| Telempaths share some abilities of the Missionary and Skip Tracer. With the power to remotely share thoughts and feelings with other humans, Telempaths get free probes of all worlds linked to worlds that they own or where they have fleets.
They convert normal populations very quickly, each ship or convert having a 50% chance to convert another, and most other types can't own fully converted worlds. Strictly pacifistic, they can't declare Judgment and lose a point for each shot fired and two for every population they kill. Because all converts everywhere feel the pain, Telempaths earn 4 points for each convert killed by another player.
Telempath ships are terrible fighters, getting only one half shot per ship on fleets. Heavily armored, they suffer only 1/2 damage in combat. They avoid ambushes easily, suffering only 1/4 normal damage. Their I-ships and P-ships, however, are fully automated, inflicting full damage in combat and ambush while suffering only 1/2 damage.
Telempaths earn 5 points for every world appearing on each turn's report, 5 for each world owned, 5 more for each fully converted world, 5 more for each new world visited, and 1 for every ten converts.
Caring little for material things, they neither gain nor lose points for any Artifacts, but earn 1000 bonus points for holding all 5 Keys to Time at the end of the game. |
