morocco2x Warlord character

Post by drwr »

After some discussion with the player who designed the currently-pending game morocco2x and its new Warlord character type, we decided to change the Warlord's scoring parameters a bit.

The Warlord no longer gets points for owning worlds or fleets. Instead, he gets points for capturing them.

Specifically, he gets points for capturing worlds or fleets from his declared Judgment enemy (similar to the way a Missionary declares Judgment). Any world or fleet that he captures from some player other than his declared enemy, or that were previously unowned, earn him no points. Any world or fleet that he recaptures, having once owned it previously, earn him no points.

Like a Missionary, the Warlord may declare only one enemy per turn, but he can redeclare a different enemy each turn if he likes. Once declare, the enemy remains declared for future turns until it is replaced by a new declaration.

The Warlord is unique in that he may capture and control worlds that are robotic, as well as worlds that are 100% converts.

I am hoping this character becomes a regular feature in RSW. I like that the Warlord character type is unique from the Starweb game from which RSW was derived. This character is warlike because his point base is from capturing worlds and fleets.

I also like that the Warlord can capture converted and robotic worlds. Now these characters have more to fear than just other characters of similar type. Especially since many games are small enough that there may not be multiple Positronix or Missionary players - now they have a natural predator.
