Drag-n-drop fleets!
Re: RSW version 0.98.3
I think there may be a bug in this latest RSW version.
This afternoon, while using the client server, it crashed whenever I tried to print the map or save the map image.

Re: RSW version 0.98.3
Right, sorry, my bad. This will be fixed in 0.98.3.1.

Re: RSW version 0.98.3
Can you arrange for more orders on groups of selected items? I'd like to select a bunch of ships and:
Load (maximum) metal.
Move to one location.
Fire at a target.
Transfer ships to a location.
Also, it would be very helpful to see a summation of how many ships are firing against a particular fleet. I get lost in tallying the kill (2 shots per ship) and overkill (4 shots per ship) once I start having ships transfer between fleets.

Re: RSW version 0.98.3
As it happens, this version does include three of your four wish list points:
Adding a feature to load all available metal on all available fleets is a fine idea; it balances the unload all available metal feature.
For listing the fleets that are firing at a particular fleet, you could try listing the orders for the target fleet--it will show all orders that involve that fleet, including orders as a target. The forecast turn is also useful for measuring the effects of fire orders. (You can enter a hypothetical movement order for your target fleet to see if your overkill is sufficient.)
But, I do also plan to add a separate "arena" tab that will be particularly designed for combat, and will provide a place to answer these kinds of questions.

You can do all of these with the new drag-n-drop interface, which allows selecting multiple fleets and moving them as a unit.Move to one location.

I figured out how to issue a drag and drop ship movement (helps to have the fleets shown on the map view). I cannot figure out how to do transfer of ships or the fire order with drag and drop. Any hints?

Re: RSW version 0.98.3
Just drag a fleet onto another fleet. Release the mouse button when both fleets turn black. It will pop up a dialog offering you the opportunity to select whether to fire or to transfer ships--if the target is a friendly fleet, the default is to transfer; otherwise, the default is to fire.
You can also select multiple fleets, for instance by dragging a circle around them or by using control-click, and then drag them all onto one target fleet this way.

Re: RSW version 0.98.3
If you can do this in the tabulated UI that would be great. I keep my worlds spaced closely and in a lot of cases the sheer number of fleets makes the on-map display completely muddy even if they were spead wide and far.
Re: RSW version 0.98.3
Also... I can't drag and drop an opponents fleet onto a new location.
Re: RSW version 0.98.3
OK, I'll add the multi-fleet options to the standard order entry menus as well.
Hmm, you're right: even with "allow order entry for other players" checked, you can't move around your opponent's fleets. Oops. Will fix.

RSW version 0.98.3.2
Fixes several bugs, including some mentioned above:
David
Version 0.98.3.2:
* More fixes to RSW Core capture rules.
* Changed the Core game rules somewhat: modified the rule for
building D-Ships, changed the firepower of D-Ships, and
introduced the ambush rule.
* Fixed a segment fault on the Linux client when clicking on
fleets in the world detail panel.
* Fixed an exception when popup tips interrupt a right-click menu.
* Fixed "Your Turn" message being incorrectly displayed when the
game is redownloaded.
* Fixed some issues with email authorization.
* Enumerate ambush attack targets
* Allow drag-n-drop for opponents' fleets (if "Allow order entry
for other players" is checked).
* Fixed exception with recent turn downloads.

Re: RSW version 0.98.3
For multiple selected fleets it would be good to also mass-order "Stand-By for Ambush".
