Starweb is dead
Starweb is dead
I just noticed that the Flying Buffalo website has has been revamped (taken over), and that Starweb is no longer there. RIP.

Wow. This site is still up: http://www.rickloomispbm.com/starweb.html
Re: Starweb is dead
Not dead, but close. I've been waiting over a year for my next SW game to start. http://www.rickloomispbm.com/starweb.html
Re: Starweb is dead
I'm guessing Rick's estate was in probate for a few things. Flying Buffalo, Inc. (FBI) one of them. Rick used to personally moderate all the games with mainframe technology.
Re: Starweb is dead
Flying Buffalo was inherited by Rick's 2 sisters. They sold off all the rights to his other games (tunnels & trolls etc) but the PBM games were retained and moderated by Chuck. Goto:

I think this was a way to keep Chuck employed. There are very few players left. Currently, to avoid long waits and avoid the usual Mega-alliance style of play that has evolved, I have organized private SW games with various tweaks. I have one 3 player Multi anonymous where there is a team of 3 managing each of the 5, three player positions. Anonymous means no Mega alliances and yet the 3 players on a team can still talk to each other and have that game camaraderie. I have I similar one with 2-position multi. Other tweaks thrown in have been some random neutral 15 industry worlds for the finding and changing a couple of the artifacts abilities. Also Victory conditions - did a multi where it was the highest score that wins (not that it trips the game end and the rankings are done by the lowest score on each position). The games had 20k and 25k endscores for a longer more enjoyable game that doesn't end before it gets interesting. The games are on T20 and T26.
When a game ends I will email my player pool and see if we can get another 2-position multi going. Anyone who is interested in such a game should email me (somnos@flyingmoose.ca). and I will send you an invitation.
