I think we're done with the flurry of bugfix releases that followed 0.98.1. Subsequent releases will hopefully be made at a much more sedate and reasonable pace.

This version adds a few more bugfixes, and also adds a new feature to catch Python exceptions and offer to report them to me automatically, instead of requiring you to go dig around in the logs and make a post here on the forums. (I should have put this feature in long ago.)

David
Version 0.98.2:

* Automatic client exception catching, with option to report to
server.

* Fixed another bug when viewing past turns.

* Fixed map display bug when previewing a messaged report.

Version 0.98.1.6:

* Fixed a serious logic error in metal-loading orders: the game
was not properly checking the loader status, and load attempts
from players who had declared you a loader would incorrectly fail.
Server only.

Version 0.98.1.5:

* Fixed Turn News for completed games.

* Fixed bug when starting a new game.

* Fixed bugs when viewing past turns in the client.

* Fixed bugs saving map image.

* Added description of Core games to the online and in-game help
pages.

Version 0.98.1.4:

* Fixed "Preferred By" column in artifact list.

* Fixed crashes when customizing world, fleet, artifact list
columns.

* The client now considers ambush fire when projecting next turn
or showing the forecast number of ships next turn. This is a
little iffy, since the client doesn't really know who's allied
with whom, but it can make some educated guesses.

* Turns News and Explain panels now handle the Core game
correctly.

* The client no longer locks up for a long time when changing team
colors, and newly-created teams will no longer share the same
color ID.

The auto-exception-reporting feature is already paying for itself.
Version 0.98.2.1:

* Fixed several bugs when viewing the Explain tab in different
circumstances.

* Fixed bug in which reposting failed orders via the web interface
would not clear the "draft" checkbox.

* Fixed client bug when typing a blank line in the orders form.

* Fixed inappropriate order menu options offered on core game.

* Fixed a few more problems with the core game.

This release contains an important bugfix to the client's auto-ally/loader management. If you've made any changes to teammates recently, it's possible that the server settings disagree with your teammate settings, which can cause problems when the turn runs.

I recommend everyone download this client version, and then while running the new client, temporarily make some minor change to your teammate list, then change it back--for instance, drag one player out of your team, and then back in. It's only necessary to make one change like this to force the client to recompute the teammate settings and issue the corrected orders.
Version 0.98.2.2:

* Fixed crash that resulted when you close the game window without
waiting for a message to finish sending.

* Fixed crash when you right-click on a world you haven't recently
seen.

* Fixed problem downloading new client version (or following any
web link) for certain Windows users.

* Fixed problem managing ally/loader status automatically.

In enormous, I have a player set as teammate, as far as I can tell I'm set as their teammate, but I have a planet(s) that is reducing its usable industry (in the client) with a small fleet at the planet as if they weren't my teammate.

The important question here is whether this other player has you declared as a teammate. Have you asked the other player whether they have declared you a teammate? If they have, have them write a PM or an email to me, since the server appears to think they have not.

The other player indicates that I AM a teammate as well. Check out W50- there's only two of us there.
9 industry, a fleet of 3 floating there making 6 usable. I'm building 6 onto the fleet because that's all it will let me, but at the same time it projects I'll have 3 extra I-ships there next turn (my missing 3 industry).

The game thinks REAL hard when I change the color of a team but it does seem to be working now. I'm not on a slow machine, either ;-)

OK, looks like the other player has recently dragged you in and out of teammate status, thereby repairing the problem. Next turn should show proper teammate relationships.

In the meantime, I've tweaked the database, so that your industry will no longer be suppressed at W50, or at any other world with this player. You should see the difference the next time you restart your client. Let me know if there are other players that are incorrectly suppressing your industry.

The amount of time it takes to change a team color is roughly proportional to the number of worlds on your map. Guess you've got a pretty full map. :) I'll see if I can make another pass at improving this time further.
