windows client fails to start.

windows client fails to start.

My laptop died so I tried to install the windows client on an old XP machine. When I try and run it I get an error:

C:\Program Files\RSW\rsw_client.exe

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

A reinstall and an uninstall/reinstall both failed to help.

An ideas where I can start looking to troubleshoot?

It sounds like a general incompatibility with XP, probably a missing system DLL or something. To fix it, I'll have to dig up an XP machine myself, and use that to build a new client installer. I'll look into this, but I'm not sure how quickly I'll be able to do it. :(

Another option would be for you to install Python and wxPython on your XP machine, then download the source code version and run from that, by using Python to run rsw_client.py.
