Empire Builder points rule change

Empire Builder points rule change

Post by drwr »

Egad! I've just consulted the official Starweb rules at Flying Buffalo's site, and boy was I surprised.

According to the RSW rules, an Empire Builder earns points according to the following schedule:

Code: Select all

Each world owned 10
Each 10 population 1
Each unit of industry	1
Each mine 1
While according to the official FB rules at flyingbuffalo.com, it's:

Code: Select all

# 1 point/turn for each 10 population controlled.
# 1 point/turn for each MINE controlled.
# 1 point/turn for each Industry controlled.
Anyone see a difference there? I have no idea where that idea of an additional 10 points per world owned came from. It's apparently been in my codebase since the beginning of time, and it was based on that code that I wrote the RSW rulesheet.

Well, this certainly explains the preponderance of recent Empire Builder victories. Boy, is my face red.

Well, no longer. This weekend, I will release a server upgrade that denies Empire Builders this extra point income. So any Empire Builders currently in active games now, this might be a good time to try to win the game as quickly as possible before the new rule change hits. :)
