New RSW client 1.0.8.1
I've just posted a new version of the RSW client, version 1.0.8.1; it's now available for download. Although the interface hasn't changed much, internally the code represents a completely new build, with new versions of the GUI and other support libraries. This shouldn't mean much to you as a player...

Re: MAC Version of RSW Client
If anyone is coming late to this thread, the Mac client is once again working well and does not require Parallels or wxPython or anything else.

Re: Mac client not starting
For anyone coming to this thread, the Mac client is once again working well out-of-the-box as of version 1.0.8.1; it no longer requires wxPython or any other special software to be installed.

Re: Server performance
And, we're up and running on our shiny new server! Everything looks pretty sparkly over here to me. It sure does seem to be a lot snappier. Only hitch so far is I had to upgrade the forum software, but that's working now too, so let me know if anything seems to be broken on this new server. Happy ga...

Server performance
As many of you have no doubt noticed, the RSW server has become increasingly sluggish and unresponsive recently. You'll stare at a loading bar for multiple seconds when you visit the webpage; sometimes you'll get a 500 proxy error code. When you submit your turns on the client, occasionally you'll g...

Re: New Classic Game Starting January 1, 2018--Need New Play
Hi Barry, Welcome to RSW! To answer your specific questions, the game you have created is listed under the "Play" button for anyone else to see and sign up for. It currently looks like this: shadows8t is pending. Created 29 Dec 2017, last activity 30 Dec 2017. Game type Classic. Runs every...

Re: laughed5k
my RSW client is not working correctly. I have the new update but every game is real slow in updating changes and constantly crashes and loses all my orders. Any ideas? My apologies, something in the new update seems to have corrupted some players' game databases. Please reset the game database (se...

Re: New client - message bug?
The latest client patch, 1.0.7.3, should fix Arioch's bug, a crash when trying to send a message. Other players have reported general problems similar to somnos, where the client is generally sluggish or fails to respond correctly. The solution in these cases seems to be to reset the game database. ...

Re: laughed5k
Ah, my apologies; there was indeed a bug in the client. I've made a fix and published the updated client as version 1.0.7.2; once you have installed the update, if it still doesn't work, you may need to delete laughed5k from your games list (right-click on it and select "Delete game") and ...

Re: santos6u
I'm on it. It's a tricky one to track down, but hopefully I should have it cleared up soon. Edit: OK, found it. The problem was a deadlock in the code supporting santos6u, formerly santos6t. I put in a code fix and restarted the game (for the third time). Let's see if the new santos6v manages to avo...

Re: Servers4z
I have heard people complain about the maps available under the "Advanced" map set selection. It is true that some of these maps are indeed quite complex and difficult to arrange. I am willing to consider removing these complex map choices from the mainstream offerings.

Re: App for Android?
Another idea is this one: http://www.pcmag.com/review/351556/lenovo-ideapad-110s I'm not finding anything in the sub-100 Euro range, though. If that's your pricepoint, you might need to go with a Linux-based laptop, which you could probably get for under 100 Euros. This kind of machine would be theo...

Re: App for Android?
Some research on the internet seems to suggest that finding a tablet that can do this is unlikely. So, I'm sorry to report, you probably won't be able to buy a Windows 10 tablet that can run the RSW client directly. However, there are some really inexpensive (and lightweight) notebooks that should d...

Re: Servers4z
No, my apologies. This is a terrible bug. Somehow the server has confused the map between turn 1 and turn 2. I have reset this game and it has now restarted as servers5a.

Re: App for Android?
Hmm, I don't know. I have little experience with Windows tablets. It would have to be capable of running an x86 executable compiled for Windows desktop. It's possible, but this would be a question for the tablet salesperson. Does anyone else on these forums have experience with these kinds of tablet...
