RSW version 0.86
RSW server/client version 0.86 is now live. The big news with this update is the replacement of the old, broken messaging system with a much better integrated messaging system. The full ChangeLog entry for this release: Version 0.86 * Reworked messaging system, combining in-game "stored" m...

In-game messages fubar
Several players have reported to me problems with delivering in-game ("stored") messages. There do appear to be real issues in there with such messages occasionally getting lost without having been delivered. I hope to straighten out the messaging system over the upcoming weekend, incident...

My suggestion is anything that affects points be a game option. Just in case the players want a more relaxed game. I agree. 1. Scale the points deducted/awarded based on the number of players in a game 2. Scale the points deducted based on how someone held the game up. If everyone else turned in th...

Discouraging procrastination
Here I some of the ideas I was tossing around to encourage players to get off their duff and put in their orders: * Send a "hey, you're holding everyone up" email to the last player in a given turn to submit orders. * On the game page, report the number of players who have yet to enter ord...

Can the position be taken over by an account already in the game? Yes. The player who takes on multiple positions in a given game will be awarded the lowest score of all his positions at game end. How are in-game interactions affected? Do the worlds and fleets become neutral, or is it just as if th...

That's why I think a limited time period for the first turns would be beneficial. People don't really need all that time to make their turn. They just need a little help overcoming procrastination. I can see that. On the other hand, the first few turns are the most important turns not to miss--if y...

Sounds like a swell idea. I'll see about slipping something like that in there. I've also always wanted to have a scratchpad for jotting down notes to myself about future strategy plans, which worlds a particular fleet was headed to, which fleets were planning on hauling metal and which were plannin...

DSL misbehavior 12/21
Since my DSL modem locked up sometime last night (I don't really know when, but I needed to cold-boot it this morning), I delayed all the currently active games for 24 hours, just in case someone was unable to enter their orders last night.
