Re: wxPython for RSW client
I'll make the update, thanks! It also requires Python 2, and I'm not sure that's spelled out either.

Forum is back up!
My apologies for the month-long forum downtime. There was a system change that required updating the version of phpBB we are using to the latest version, and I've just completed the update. Thanks for your patience!

Re: Questions and edge cases
Hi Kurt! Welcome to RSW! 1. when I mark my orders as draft, will they be executed when the deadline arrives? Yes, but... if the turn time expires and your orders are still marked as draft, this will counted as a "missed turn", even though the draft orders are accepted and executed. If you ...

Re: Moving
If the connection actually does exist, then the move command will go through. If you are mistaken about the connection, then the move command will fail. The "connection may or may not exist" message is just a warning that you haven't seen in-game evidence that the connection exists yet. It...

Re: Capturing
That is correct. Generally, a world with zero population cannot be captured. If you happen to be a Positronix, it's relatively easy to drop at least one robot to the world (which counts as non-zero population) and then you can capture it. For most other player types, you have to migrate at least one...

A moment of silence
I just learned today that Barry Williams, one of our most active players, and a creative, engaged, and socially active person, passed away at the end of July. I don't know the circumstances, or any further information at all. The RSW community, and the world in general, will feel this loss deeply. P...

Re: Cancel a pending game?
Done! Note that the active RSW player population is a little light right now, and it can be difficult to start a game with more than 6 players. If you know some names of people who might be interested in playing a game or two--or game forums where they might be lurking--I encourage you to extend an ...

Re: Cancel a pending game?
There's not an explicit interface for canceling a pending game, but if all players withdraw from the game, it will automatically cancel. Or the game will automatically cancel when its expiration date hits (if it is still under-enrolled). I'm happy to manually delete a game if you'd really rather can...

As indicated by the vote preference, I've changed orthodox6o to run when all players have submitted their orders.

Re: RSW Client installation
No, there should be no open ports needed. RSW just makes an outgoing connection to the RSW server. Hmm, I've just tried setting up a clean VM with Windows Firewall and Avast free anti-virus, and it was able to launch and run RSW Client without issues. So, it's not that, or at least not only that. Do...

Re: RSW Client installation
Hi Mat! Welcome to RSW! I'm not sure what's going wrong with your client, but let's see if we can figure it out. It shouldn't be a compatibility issue; the client is compiled for Windows 10 and should run fine on any Windows 10 machine. One possibility is that somehow the client database is corrupt....

Re: rswgame 2.0?
I'd love to have such a thing, because people expect games to be played in-browser these days. The world seems to be leaning hard against downloaded game clients. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case at the time I wrote the current game client, in the early 2000's; there was no such thing as an in-br...
